TEACHER IN THE WORKPLACE

TEACHER IN THE WORKPLACE

Future Fayette Workforce – Teacher in the Workplace (TIW) pilot program is a hands-on opportunity for educators to spend time at a local manufacturing company/healthcare business. This program looks to create a system for education professionals in Fayette County to have opportunities to experience and interact with local business and industry leaders that leads to developing career readiness learning, experience and classroom instruction for students in the K-12 system.

What Is Teacher In The Workplace?

The Fayette Future Workforce TIW Program was structured as a 4-day program to start at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year. Recruitment and outreach to the school districts began in August 2018 to engage all school districts and CTC’s in Fayette County. 25 teachers were selected to participate in the program and selected either healthcare or manufacturing to focus on.

All 6 school districts (Albert Gallatin, Brownsville, Connellsville, Frazier, Laurel Highlands, Uniontown) and 2 Career and Technical Centers (Fayette County Career and Technical Institute & Connellsville Career and Technical Center) from Fayette County were asked to participate and provide recommendations for 4 high school CORE teachers to participate in the program. There are 25 teachers currently participating in the program and will earn 22 Act 48 credit hours.  Click here to see the Teacher In The Workplace photo gallery!
